Automation Engineer (R&D, Søborg)

Job summary

This role involves developing advanced automation solutions for new products within a specialized R&D environment, emphasizing innovation and technical quality. The position requires collaboration within a team focused on strategic development, adhering to a structured stage-gate model.

Responsibilities

• Develop automation solutions for new products, working with both software and hardware.
• Program PLC-based systems, primarily using Siemens TIA Portal.
• Implement communication protocols such as PROFINET and OPC UA to connect in-house MCU-based solutions with main PLC systems.
• Build prototype systems, including wiring, component selection, and enclosure design.
• Prepare technical documentation and troubleshoot, optimize, and document software and hardware solutions.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience as an automation or PLC engineer with a focus on maintainable and well-documented PLC software.
• Solid experience with Siemens TIA Portal and industrial communication protocols like PROFINET and OPC UA.
• Hands-on experience in system debugging and fault analysis in prototypes.
• Experience in an R&D or development department is preferred.
• Practical skills in prototype building, including layout and wiring of electrical panels and control cabinets, component selection, assembly, testing, and rework of electrical systems.

Skills

• Strong analytical skills for evaluating solution options based on performance, robustness, cost, and development risk.
• Ability to work independently with technical responsibility for automation solutions.

Education

• Relevant degree or equivalent experience in automation engineering or related fields.

Tools

• Siemens TIA Portal, PLC programming tools, and industrial communication protocols.
