AI Backend Engineer

Job summary

The role involves automating accounting production for Advisors by transforming source documents into accurate bookkeeping. As an AI Backend Engineer, you will enhance production AI agents that address real accounting challenges, working across the full stack of agent development.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in building and operating production backend systems.
• Strong backend engineering skills, particularly in TypeScript and Node.js (NestJS is a plus).
• Experience with production AI agent workflows, including orchestration and error handling.
• Hands-on experience integrating LLM APIs and managing schemas, latency, and costs.
• Commitment to software quality through testing and observability.
• Strong ownership and excellent written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain AI agents for document parsing and accounting workflows.
• Design and operate production-grade AI workflows with robust orchestration and error handling.
• Integrate LLM APIs while optimizing for performance and cost.
• Write integration tests and evaluation suites to enhance agent performance.
• Monitor production pipelines for quick issue diagnosis.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and CPAs to refine agent quality.
• Transform manual corrections into reusable rules for automation.
• Contribute to the architecture of the AI platform as it expands.

Skills

• Proficient in TypeScript, NestJS, and backend system development.
