About the role

Job summary

The role involves coordinating international training programs and capacity-building initiatives in the field of public health, specifically focusing on epidemiology, biostatistics, and infectious disease modeling. The position is part of a collaborative project aimed at enhancing outbreak preparedness and surveillance capabilities in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Qualifications

  • MSc or PhD in Social Sciences, Public Health, Epidemiology, Data-related fields, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in coordinating research or training programs across institutions or countries, particularly in low- and middle-income settings.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, including experience in human resource management.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate training activities, workshops, and learning programs.
  • Support onboarding and engagement of fellows and trainees.
  • Facilitate collaboration and communication among international partners.
  • Organize and manage centralized databases, reports, and analytical outputs.
  • Contribute to capacity building and the development of training materials.
  • Assist in dissemination through reports and policy-relevant outputs.
  • Track deliverables and maintain structured documentation.

Skills

  • Experience with data handling, cleaning, and interpretation.
  • Basic proficiency in Python and/or R for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Ability to communicate data insights through reports and visual presentations.
  • Familiarity with user experience processes and willingness to learn.

Education

  • MSc or PhD in relevant fields.

Tools

  • Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., Pandas, SQL, Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly, Power BI).
  • Experience with design tools (e.g., Figma) is a plus.
