Technical Project and Engagement Manager

Job summary

This role involves leading and coordinating the Polar Connect project, a significant digital infrastructure initiative for research and education. The Technical Project and Engagement Manager will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure disciplined project execution and effective communication.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree in computer science, IT, telecommunications, engineering, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
• Over 7 years of project management experience in network, datacommunication, telecommunications, or large-scale technical infrastructure environments.
• Proven experience in leading complex, multi-stakeholder technical projects with international involvement.
• Familiarity with EU-funded or publicly funded projects and related reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate key workstreams within Polar Connect.
• Establish and maintain project plans, milestones, deliverables, and budgets.
• Ensure progress against scope, governance expectations, and quality standards.
• Provide structured follow-up for colleagues and stakeholders.
• Identify and manage risks and critical issues.
• Prepare status updates and progress reports for senior management.
• Collaborate on submarine cable and optical networking matters.

Skills

• Strong understanding of datacommunication network concepts and optical networking.
• Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
• Proficient in project management methods and tools for planning and reporting.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; Scandinavian language skills preferred.

Education

• A relevant degree in a related field is required; a master’s degree is preferred but not mandatory.

Tools

• Familiarity with project management tools for documentation and reporting.
