About the role

Job summary

This position is responsible for leading a team focused on machinery-related design and technology choices for new vessel projects, ensuring alignment with fleet strategy and operational requirements.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in leading technical teams within machinery or marine engineering, preferably in newbuilding projects.
  • Strong understanding of machinery systems and their impact on vessel performance and lifecycle costs.
  • Experience in delivering technical input across various project phases, from concept to execution.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and engineering governance in maritime contexts.
  • Experience with OEMs and supplier engagement, including technical evaluations and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers in newbuilding projects.
  • Oversee machinery discipline input throughout all project phases, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Drive collaboration across engineering disciplines for high-quality project outcomes.
  • Provide technical leadership in evaluating sale and purchase opportunities for fleet renewal.
  • Manage machinery maker relationships, ensuring consistent evaluation and performance monitoring.

Skills

  • Structured and analytical thinking with the ability to simplify complex technical topics.
  • Strong communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to navigate competing priorities and make informed decisions with long-term implications.

Education

  • Background in marine or mechanical engineering is advantageous.

Tools

  • Familiarity with engineering governance and technical standards in the maritime industry.
