Job summary

This role focuses on defining legal frameworks and compliance standards within a global People & Culture context. The Senior Principal Legal and Compliance Counsel will provide expert guidance on employment law and compliance matters, ensuring alignment with local and international regulations while supporting global HR functions.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor degree or extensive experience in compliance and employment law.
  • In-depth knowledge of data privacy regulations and global employee data handling.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing compliance policies and governance structures.
  • Experience managing external legal counsel and advising senior HR stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills for leading cross-functional compliance initiatives.
  • High integrity and sound judgment in handling sensitive matters.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance of all People & Culture processes with data privacy regulations.
  • Lead internal investigations related to compliance incidents or breaches.
  • Oversee adherence to Background Check Guidelines, particularly in India.
  • Monitor new legislation and update P&C policies and processes accordingly.
  • Ensure compliant use and governance of P&C IT systems and tools.
  • Maintain a global employment law risk register and provide updates to leadership.
  • Support P&C during internal audits and reviews.
  • Drive compliance integration during M&A activities, including due diligence.
  • Build compliance awareness and capability across the global P&C organization.
  • Establish legal guardrails in employment contracts and separation agreements.
  • Act as a liaison with external compliance bodies to ensure alignment with standards.

Education

  • Juris Doctor degree or equivalent legal qualification.
