Senior Legal Counsel (Remote, Legal Industry)

Job summary

This role involves overseeing legal matters related to compliance, contracts, governance, and risk, while acting as a strategic partner to leadership in a dynamic environment. The position is a senior individual contributor role within the Operations team, reporting to the General Counsel.

Qualifications

• JD and active license to practice law in at least one US jurisdiction or qualified to practice as a solicitor in England and Wales.
• 7+ years of legal experience, with a strong preference for in-house experience.
• Excellent judgment and ability to provide calibrated legal advice.

Responsibilities

• Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks across the organization.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws in the US and UK.
• Manage relationships with outside counsel and coordinate cross-border compliance.
• Handle a diverse portfolio of legal matters, including contracts, employment issues, and data protection.
• Advise leadership on governance issues and support internal program teams.
• Serve as a thought partner on cross-functional decisions involving legal and operational considerations.

• Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly to non-lawyers.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and able to manage multiple priorities.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal qualification.
