Senior Device Reliability Engineer (IoT)

Job summary

The role involves being the technical authority on the behavior of IoT devices in real-world conditions, establishing reliability standards and metrics that guide product development. The engineer will analyze device performance data, ensuring devices operate reliably across various environments.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in the IoT sector, particularly with mobile IoT or connected hardware in industrial or construction settings.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, Business Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience is acceptable.
• Proficient in SQL; experience with Databricks is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills to communicate data effectively and understand business implications.
• Familiarity with embedded systems and firmware behavior is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Lead the definition of reliability metrics by analyzing telemetry data to categorize device states.
• Collaborate with firmware and hardware engineers to verify device behavior and translate findings into actionable standards.
• Monitor fleet health and analyze the impact of updates and changes on device performance.
• Investigate and resolve unexpected device behaviors, providing recommendations to prevent future issues.
• Facilitate cross-team discussions to resolve conflicts regarding device definitions and ensure alignment on reliability standards.
