QA Director (Remote)

Job summary

The QA Director will oversee the strategic direction and development of the Quality Assurance (QA) function within a fully remote game development studio. This role involves leading a team of experienced QA professionals and collaborating with production, development leadership, and external testing partners to ensure high-quality game releases.

Qualifications

• Over 8 years of experience in games QA or software quality engineering.
• At least 3 years in a QA leadership position, with a proven track record of leading teams through game releases.
• Extensive experience in games quality assurance and mentoring senior QA Engineers.
• Strong understanding of QA strategy throughout the development lifecycle.
• Experience managing established teams and scaling QA functions.
• Familiarity with external QA providers and outsourcing partners.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement the long-term QA strategy.
• Lead and develop the existing QA team, ensuring effective processes are in place.
• Prepare the QA function for Early Access, launch, and future projects.
• Collaborate with production and development leadership to identify quality risks and establish testing approaches.
• Shape the strategy for internal testing and external QA partnerships.
• Ensure comprehensive QA coverage for game development and player-facing tools.
• Align automation priorities with the broader QA strategy.
• Foster a supportive environment for team members to share feedback and concerns.
