Principal Engineer - Architecture (Remote, Engineering)

Job summary

This role involves defining next-generation networking and connectivity solutions, focusing on Ethernet, USB, and PCI Express interfaces for various applications. The position requires collaboration with product marketing and customers to shape product requirements and develop architecture specifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
• At least 8 years of relevant industry experience
• Strong written communication skills for producing high-quality engineering documentation
• Experience in silicon or system architecture, applications engineering, or systems engineering roles
• Familiarity with digital IC design, mixed-signal and analog IC design, hardware design, and firmware/software development
• Experience working with globally distributed engineering teams

Responsibilities

• Define architecture concepts for new silicon and system products based on customer needs
• Collaborate with product marketing and customers to shape product requirements
• Develop architecture specifications with silicon and software architects
• Design functional safety and cybersecurity concepts for new products
• Coordinate global teams throughout the product development lifecycle
• Define approved vendor lists for companion chipsets
• Develop reference designs and promote new silicon solutions
• Establish technical partnerships with semiconductor vendors
• Support pre-production customer engagements
• Deliver technical training for customers and sales teams
• Create technical documentation such as application notes and datasheets

Skills

• Experience in embedded systems specification and requirements development
• Debugging skills across physical to application layers for various interfaces
• Embedded programming experience in environments like Linux or Zephyr
• Scripting and prototyping skills in languages such as Python
• Hands-on experience with lab equipment like oscilloscopes and multimeters
• Knowledge of functional safety standards and PCB CAD tools

Education

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent

Tools

• Familiarity with PCB CAD tools (e.g., Altium Designer)
• Experience with quality management processes
