Job summary

This position is for a Postdoctoral Researcher focused on advancing space photovoltaics through the development of low-cost crystalline silicon solar cells. The role is part of a Grand Solutions project aimed at enhancing solar cell efficiency by utilizing quantum-dot technology.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Strong understanding of photovoltaics, spectral engineering, and optical characterization.
  • Ability to publish and present research findings.
  • Experience in coordinating work with academic and industrial partners.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and engineer quantum dots to optimize their optical properties.
  • Design and fabricate luminescence downshifting layers to convert UV light into visible wavelengths.
  • Construct and calibrate a custom optical characterization system for measuring photoluminescence spectra.
  • Conduct quantum efficiency measurements of downshifting layers and implement strategies to enhance efficiency by reducing losses.
  • Collaborate closely with the Solar Photovoltaic System group and external project partners.

Skills

  • Proficiency in quantum dot engineering and optical system setup.
  • Experience with spectral downshifting techniques and optical characterization methods.

Education

  • A PhD degree in a relevant field is required.

Tools

  • Optical characterization systems, integrating spheres, and quantum dot fabrication techniques.
