Job summary

A 3-year PhD position is available to explore the interactions between diet, the gut microbiome, and microbial metabolites. The research aims to enhance understanding of how dietary components influence microbiome function, contributing to personalized nutrition.

Qualifications

  • Background in microbiology with a strong interest in gut microbiome and nutrition.
  • Two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent research while collaborating with research group members.
  • Teach Bachelor's and Master's students and engage in departmental activities.

Skills

  • Proficiency in basic microbiology and molecular biology techniques.
  • Strong reading and writing skills in scientific literature.
  • Understanding of bacterial regulatory and metabolic responses to nutrition and environmental factors.
  • Knowledge of sequence-based analysis of bacterial communities.
  • Ability to work independently and contribute to team goals.

Education

  • A two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent is required.

Tools

  • Experience with omics technologies (16S sequencing, metagenomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics) is advantageous.
