Job summary

This position involves developing advanced image reconstruction algorithms for a robotic computed tomography system aimed at digitizing natural history collections. The role focuses on high-impact research in computational imaging and AI, contributing to open-source software, and collaborating with leading researchers.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree in computational imaging, preferably in X-ray CT reconstruction.
  • Experience in developing deep learning and/or regularization-based image reconstruction methods.
  • Proficiency in scientific Python programming.
  • Experience with simulations and large real datasets.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Develop mathematical methods for rapid reconstruction of CT data from sparse or noisy datasets.
  • Validate numerical implementations on both simulated and actual CT data.
  • Explore and compare various machine learning and optimization methods for image reconstruction.
  • Contribute to the development of computational reconstruction pipelines for the robotic CT system.
  • Engage with open-source scientific software communities.
  • Publish research findings in collaboration with colleagues.

Education

  • A PhD degree (or equivalent) is required, with a statement from the main supervisor if nearing completion.

Tools

  • Familiarity with scientific Python programming and open-source software development.
