This postdoctoral position focuses on experimental research in biomass pyrolysis and biochar at a leading technical university. The role involves conducting laboratory-scale pyrolysis experiments and characterizing various biomass and waste-derived feedstocks.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree (or equivalent) in chemical engineering or a related field
  • Strong background in experimental research
  • Ability to plan and conduct independent research
  • Proficient in analyzing and interpreting experimental data
  • Effective communication skills in English

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute laboratory-scale pyrolysis experiments using diverse feedstocks
  • Characterize feedstocks and pyrolysis products through analytical methods
  • Explore relationships between feedstock properties, process conditions, and biochar quality
  • Analyze experimental data and innovate new experimental approaches
  • Lead research tasks and work packages in collaborative projects
  • Supervise MSc and PhD students
  • Publish and present research findings in scientific forums

Skills

  • Hands-on experience with thermal conversion processes
  • Familiarity with analytical methods relevant to biochar research (e.g., ash analysis, TGA, BET analysis, SEM-EDX)
  • Knowledge of carbon stability assessment and analysis of PAHs, PFAS, and heavy metals is advantageous

Education

  • A formal qualification of a PhD degree (or equivalent) is required.
