Job summary

This position focuses on advancing microbial cell factories for isoprenoid biosynthesis using CO₂-derived feedstocks. The role involves interdisciplinary collaboration to develop scalable bioprocesses aimed at establishing sustainable chemical production routes.

Qualifications

  • PhD in metabolic engineering, biotechnology, or a related field.
  • Experience in microbial physiology and metabolic engineering of non-model bacteria, including CRISPR/Cas methods.
  • Hands-on experience with analytics (e.g., GC-MS, LC-MS) and bioreactor cultivation.
  • Familiarity with metabolic design principles and systems-level metabolic engineering approaches.
  • Strong collaborative mindset and excellent communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize microbial strains for isoprenoid biosynthesis using MEP and MVA pathways.
  • Develop high-throughput screening methods for quantifying isoprenoid flux.
  • Implement optimized biosynthetic pathways in microbial cell factories for P2X feedstock assimilation.
  • Lead strain engineering efforts using CRISPR/Cas systems.
  • Conduct bioreactor experiments to assess strain performance and scalability.
  • Collaborate with various project teams and disseminate findings through publications and presentations.

Education

  • A PhD degree (or equivalent) is required.
