Job summary

This position is a 2-year postdoctoral role focused on modeling the flexibility potential of electric vehicle (EV) charging clusters and their integration with renewable energy sources as part of a European research project.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field with a focus on energy systems.
  • Strong skills in data analysis, visualization, and applied statistics.
  • Knowledge of EV technologies and innovative charging systems.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB and/or Python.
  • Experience in student supervision and teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Quantify the flexibility potential of public and private EV charging hubs.
  • Investigate synergies between EV charging and renewable energy generation.
  • Assess the impact of EV charging and distributed generation on the power system.
  • Contribute to the optimal siting of charging infrastructure.
  • Explore and evaluate innovative charging technologies for grid integration.
  • Participate in project coordination and educational activities.

Skills

  • Experience in dynamic modeling and simulation of power system components is preferred.
  • Familiarity with model predictive control, machine learning, or reinforcement learning is advantageous.
  • Experience with IoT, edge computing, and cloud integration is a plus.
  • Proven ability to contribute to research funding proposals.

Education

  • A formal qualification of a PhD degree (or equivalent) is required.

  • Proficiency in MATLAB and/or Python.
