Postdoctoral Researcher in Bioprocess Engineering

Job summary

This position focuses on advancing biomanufacturing technologies aimed at converting CO₂-derived feedstocks into high-volume chemicals. The role involves collaboration across various disciplines to develop robust microbial cell factories and scalable bioprocesses.

Qualifications

• PhD degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field.
• Strong background in bioprocess engineering, particularly in bioprocess conceptualization and evaluation.
• Experience with renewable-carbon conversion routes and process design.
• Knowledge of techno-economic analysis and process modeling.
• Experience with pilot plant commissioning is advantageous.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in interdisciplinary teams.
• Proficiency in English, with involvement in teaching and supervising students expected.

Responsibilities

• Design new reactor concepts and downstream purification processes.
• Evaluate and model scaling-up of designed processes.
• Conduct life cycle assessment (LCA) analysis of developed processes.
• Determine required titer, rate, and yield for various processes.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary research team.
• Publish research findings in high-impact scientific journals.
• Prepare presentations and project deliverables with high accuracy.

Education

• PhD degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field.

Tools

• Experience with bioprocess modeling and evaluation tools, as well as LCA methodologies.
