PhD Researcher (Environmental Epidemiology, Copenhagen)

Job summary

A 3-year PhD scholarship is available for a motivated candidate to explore the relationship between toxicants and the risk of Parkinson's Disease within the field of environmental epidemiology and public health. This project is part of a larger research initiative funded by the Michael J Fox Foundation.

Qualifications

• A master’s degree (MSc or equivalent) in public health, epidemiology, data science, or related fields.
• Demonstrated interest in research within epidemiology, environmental medicine, or data science.
• Experience with programming using statistical software (such as SAS, Stata, or R) is a plus but not mandatory.
• Preferably prior experience with register-based and/or environmental epidemiology.
• Strong interest in quantitative analyses and working with large datasets.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
• A motivated, independent, and quality-oriented approach to research.

Responsibilities

• Establish the study population of the entire Danish adult population.
• Derive toxicant exposure at an individual level.
• Analyze associations between toxicant exposure and the risk of Parkinson's Disease.
• Prepare and publish research findings in international peer-reviewed journals.

Education

Salary and Working Conditions

• A master’s degree (MSc or equivalent) in a relevant field is required.
• PhD students are employed as PhD fellows according to the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations in public employment (AC) agreement. The base salary is DKK 374,912.98, excluding pension contributions.
