About the role

Job summary

A fully funded 3-year PhD position is available at the Centre for Advanced Photovoltaics and Thin-Film Energy Devices, focusing on the design and development of aggregation-induced emission (AIE)-active molecular materials for organic photovoltaics. The role involves conducting independent research and participating in international collaborations.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in chemistry, material science, physics, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in organic synthesis, molecular photophysics, organic and/or hybrid semiconductors, thin films, and organic photovoltaics is preferred.
  • Strong collaboration skills and proficiency in English for scientific communication.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on AIE-active molecular materials to optimize charge extraction and enhance stability in organic solar cells.
  • Develop and communicate scientific ideas and results.
  • Participate in research stays abroad as part of the project.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment.

Education

  • A relevant master's degree is required.

Tools

  • Access to state-of-the-art facilities including cleanrooms and Roll-to-Roll (R2R) equipment for device fabrication and characterization.
