Job summary

This PhD position focuses on developing experimental skills at the intersection of 2D materials, nanofabrication, and quantum transport to create new device platforms for engineered quantum materials. The role involves hands-on device fabrication and advanced measurements in collaboration with various research partners.

Qualifications

  • Strong experimental background in condensed matter physics, nanoscience, materials science, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with microfabrication, nanofabrication, or experimental device work.
  • Comfortable with systematic laboratory work, data analysis, and troubleshooting.
  • A two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent academic level.

Responsibilities

  • Design and fabricate chip architectures for quantum superlattice devices.
  • Develop transfer and stacking processes for materials such as graphene and transition metal dichalcogenides.
  • Create device geometries compatible with low-temperature transport and various characterization methods.
  • Conduct electronic transport measurements and correlate them with structural characterization techniques.
  • Develop open-surface sample platforms for advanced probing techniques in collaboration with external partners.
  • Establish reproducible fabrication and measurement protocols and analyze experimental data.

Education

  • A two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent academic level is required.

Tools

  • Experience with TEM, AFM, nanoARPES, and electronic transport measurement techniques is beneficial.
