Job summary

This position offers a 3-year PhD opportunity focused on the development of soft prosthetic devices, particularly for upper limbs, utilizing concepts from soft robotics and biomedical engineering. The role is based at a research center that emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration and practical solutions for medical challenges.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, robotics, physics, or a related field (or nearing completion).
  • Strong knowledge of CAD and additive manufacturing.
  • Experience in (virtual) prototyping.
  • Proficient programming skills in languages such as Python or C++.
  • Familiarity with statistical techniques for performance evaluation.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a research setting.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct high-quality research in the field of soft prosthetics.
  • Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at international conferences.
  • Contribute to teaching activities within the Faculty of Engineering.

Skills

  • Excellent CAD and additive manufacturing capabilities.
  • Strong programming and prototyping skills.
  • Experience in medical device development and design engineering is advantageous.

Education

  • A Master's degree in a relevant field is required prior to enrollment.

Tools

  • CAD software, additive manufacturing tools, programming environments (Python, C++), and statistical analysis software.
