PhD Candidate in AI-Augmented Systems Engineering

Job summary

This position involves advancing the field of systems engineering through the development of AI tools. You will contribute to establishing a new research lab focused on creating and safety-testing AI applications for engineering tasks, collaborating closely with industry and academic partners.

Qualifications

• A two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent academic level.
• Prior experience in systems engineering and/or developing AI-based solutions is preferred.
• Passion for both systems engineering and AI tool development.

Responsibilities

• Design and validate an AI assistant for creating and reasoning over SysML 2.0 system models.
• Formalize engineering knowledge into machine-readable models.
• Evaluate methods on real engineering cases with industry partners.
• Utilize the lab's local AI compute resources and validated model stack.
• Publish research findings in leading journals and conferences.
• Assist in teaching and supervising BSc and MSc student projects.
• Contribute to the establishment of the new lab.

Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE).
• Familiarity with AI methodologies and tools.

Education

• A master's degree in a relevant field is required.
