Job summary

This role involves supporting and enhancing research-based innovation and entrepreneurship activities within a leading engineering department. The position is part-time and focuses on translating research into practical applications and fostering startup development.

Qualifications

• Proven hands-on experience in entrepreneurship, startup growth, or technology commercialization, preferably in science or engineering sectors.
• Familiarity with the intersection of research and application, particularly in areas like deep-tech, materials, biotech, or sustainability.
• Strong collaborative and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with academic researchers.
• Knowledge of funding, intellectual property, partnerships, or scaling early-stage technologies is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist early-stage innovation projects in transitioning from research findings to viable market applications.
• Provide guidance on commercialization strategies, including market fit and value propositions.
• Act as a mentor for research-based startups and pre-spin-out initiatives.
• Facilitate innovation workshops and venture-building activities, involving both researchers and students.
• Identify and develop high-risk, high-potential ideas that may not qualify for traditional funding.
• Connect academic research with industry needs and entrepreneurial practices.
