About the role

Job summary

This role involves evaluating AI-generated mortgage underwriting decisions and creating test cases for various loan types. Contributors will work on a project basis, focusing on improving AI systems related to mortgage underwriting.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Real Estate, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in mortgage, lending, real estate, or financial services.
  • Current or recent experience in underwriting and origination or similar roles.
  • Proficiency in calculating qualifying income for self-employed borrowers using IRS Forms 1040, Schedule C, Schedule E, and K-1.
  • Familiarity with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac selling guides, as well as knowledge of Reg B, Reg Z, and TRID disclosure timing rules.
  • Strong written English proficiency (C1+).

Responsibilities

Project time expectations

Tasks are estimated to require approximately 10–20 hours per week during active phases, based on project needs.

Compensation

Contributors can earn up to $60 per hour, depending on their level of expertise and contribution pace.

  • Evaluate AI-generated mortgage underwriting decisions across various loan types.
  • Create test cases for qualifying income calculations for self-employed borrowers.
  • Draft and audit conditional approval letters and adverse action notices for compliance.
  • Distinguish between Fannie Mae / Freddie Mac rules and lender overlays in loan scenarios.
  • Document problem statements and provide verified correct answers.
