Logistics Assistant (Copenhagen)

Job summary

The role involves ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of supplies to programs and customers, under the supervision of the Shipping Specialist. The Logistics Assistant will maintain compliance with international and regulatory standards in supply chain operations, particularly for regulated products.

Qualifications

• Completion of secondary education with additional training in shipping and business administration.
• At least 5 years of relevant work experience in a similar function or administrative roles related to shipping.
• Fluency in English is required.

Responsibilities

• Execute shipments in a timely and cost-effective manner.
• Coordinate with forwarding agents for shipment consolidation and dispatch.
• Follow up on late deliveries and expedite reports from Freight Forwarders.
• Validate shipping documents and update relevant data fields.
• Analyze and verify invoices for freight and associated charges.
• Provide freight estimates and quotations to ensure correct budget allocation.
• Advise on shipping matters to Field Offices and other Centres.
• Investigate new routings and maintain freight tariffs.
• Provide backup for team members and perform additional duties as needed.

• Capacity to work under pressure.
• Knowledge of another official UN language or local language.
• Experience in humanitarian logistics and freight forwarding.
• Familiarity with import regulations and analytical tools like SAP and Excel.
• Relevant experience in development and humanitarian contexts.
