Laytime Specialist

Job summary

An experienced Laytime Specialist is sought to manage laytime calculations and enhance demurrage processes. This role involves ensuring timely settlement of demurrage invoices, collecting data and insights from operations, and providing feedback to commercial teams. The position is part of a small team within the Commercial Operations Department, responsible for global laytime calculations and related financial processes.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in operations or a demurrage department, with an interest in maritime law.
• Strong team player capable of building trustful relationships and collaborating effectively.
• Comfortable handling complex tasks and maintaining oversight in a fast-paced environment.
• Detail-oriented, solution-focused, and proactive in taking initiative.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Valid residence and work permit for the chosen work location.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of daily laytime claims handling.
• Manage ships’ performance claims and recover outstanding amounts.
• Interpret contracts and contribute to contract optimization.
• Prepare internal reports and set operational performance targets.
• Participate in customer meetings and negotiations.
• Develop and strengthen customer relationships through a service-minded approach.
• Contribute to digitalization initiatives by supporting new systems and data-driven improvements.
