About the role

Job summary

The Interoperability Engineer is tasked with overseeing compliance with UNISIG ETCS/ERTMS standards and TSI CCS requirements for a significant rail project. This role serves as the main liaison to the Notified Body (NoBo) and ensures that all technical documentation is complete and ready for audits. The engineer collaborates with various teams to gather and validate evidence necessary for interoperability assessments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in engineering, electronics, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with UNISIG standards and TSI CCS requirements.
  • Experience in Interoperability or Verification & Validation (V&V) within Rail/ETCS/ERTMS or similar safety-critical systems.
  • Proficiency in Requirements & Configuration Management tools (e.g., DOORS, Polarion).
  • Strong technical documentation skills.
  • Fluent in English; Danish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage interoperability evidence by collecting, validating, and structuring compliance documentation.
  • Serve as the primary contact for the NoBo, coordinating reviews and ensuring timely documentation delivery.
  • Prepare and maintain interoperability reports, traceability matrices, and compliance statements.
  • Ensure bidirectional traceability between requirements, design artifacts, and test results.
  • Participate in inspections and reviews to verify alignment with certification needs.
  • Document and address non-compliance issues affecting interoperability.
  • Collaborate with Safety, Test, Engineering, and Defect Management teams for consistent certification inputs.
  • Monitor defects related to interoperability and ensure quality assurance of documentation.

Skills

  • Strong technical background with a collaborative approach.
  • Ability to analyze defects for interoperability impact.
  • Understanding of signalling layouts and ETCS concepts is advantageous.

Education

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in engineering, electronics, or similar.

Tools

  • Requirements & Configuration Management tools (e.g., DOORS, Polarion).
