Job summary

The Engineering Team Leader is responsible for overseeing a small product team of engineers, managing team dynamics, and fostering individual growth. This role involves both management and active participation in product development, ensuring optimal execution and continuous improvement within the team.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing an engineering team of at least 2 members.
  • Extensive background in Backend development (Elixir/Phoenix, Ruby, or functional programming).
  • Strong commitment to promoting company values and fostering a positive team culture.
  • Proven track record of delivering secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
  • Familiarity with designing and implementing automation workflows.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to inspire and instill confidence in team members.
  • Understanding of team dynamics and a focus on diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a product team of 3-5 engineers, spending 30% of the time on management tasks.
  • Participate in hiring and onboarding new engineers.
  • Provide continuous feedback and coaching to team members.
  • Redesign engineering workflows to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develop reusable workflows and verification processes to ensure quality outcomes.

Skills

  • Strong engineering fundamentals and best practices.
  • Ability to think in systems and define clear specifications.
  • Experience with automation and AI capabilities.

Education

  • Relevant technical degree or equivalent experience preferred.

Tools

  • Familiarity with engineering and development tools relevant to the tech stack.
