Engineering Team Leader (Remote)

Job summary

The Engineering Team Leader is responsible for managing a small product team of engineers while actively participating in product development. This role focuses on optimizing team dynamics, fostering growth, and ensuring effective execution of engineering workflows.

Qualifications

• Experience managing an engineering team of at least 2 individuals.
• Extensive background in Backend development (Elixir/Phoenix, Ruby, or functional programming).
• Strong commitment to promoting organizational values.
• Proven track record of delivering secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
• Experience in designing or adopting automation workflows and improving them iteratively.
• Excellent communication skills and a solid understanding of engineering principles.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to inspire and instill confidence in team members.
• Knowledge of team dynamics and a focus on diversity, equality, and inclusion.
• Demonstrated capabilities in automation and AI fluency.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of 3-5 engineers, spending 30% of time on management tasks.
• Participate in hiring and onboarding new engineers.
• Provide continuous feedback and coaching to team members.
• Redesign engineering workflows to utilize autonomous agents.
• Propose and implement agentic workflows to enhance delivery speed.
• Build reusable workflows in the codebase for cross-domain application.
• Ensure quality and reliability through verification loops.

Education

• Relevant experience in engineering management and software development.

Tools

• Familiarity with engineering and development tools relevant to the tech stack.
