Engineering Manager - Mobile (Remote)

Job summary

The Engineering Manager for Mobile is responsible for leading the team that develops the mobile application used by coaches and participants. This role emphasizes hands-on leadership at the intersection of engineering, product, and delivery, focusing on transforming the team's approach from output-driven to outcome-oriented.

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing an engineering team with direct people leadership.
• Technical credibility to engage with engineers on architectural decisions and trade-offs.
• Strong focus on outcomes, pushing for clarity on success metrics.
• Ability to handle operational urgency, resolving incidents and blockers independently.
• Experience leading mobile engineering teams (iOS, Android, React Native, Flutter, etc.).
• Fluent in English.

Responsibilities

• Conduct 1:1s, career conversations, and performance management for team members.
• Own delivery processes, including sprint rhythm and roadmap execution.
• Model a shift in thinking from feature delivery to product outcomes.
• Foster a culture of direct feedback and personal growth within the team.
• Collaborate closely with the Product Manager as a peer.

Skills

• Experience with mobile development challenges, including release cycles and app store constraints.
• Familiarity with team topologies, platform thinking, or engineering organization design is a plus.
• Interest in AI-assisted development and its application in workflows.

Education

• Relevant experience in health, wellness, or B2B SaaS is preferred.

Tools

• Familiarity with tools and technologies used in mobile app development.
