Workload Lead - Kubernetes/Containerization (Telecommunications, Remote)

Job summary

The role involves leading the design, construction, and management of a bare-metal Kubernetes platform, focusing on multi-tenancy and self-service infrastructure at a telecommunications scale.

Qualifications

• Proven experience building and operating unmanaged Kubernetes platforms.
• Proficient in scripting and automation languages such as Python, Bash, PowerShell, Terraform, or Ansible.
• Familiarity with distributed teams and effective communication across various organizational levels.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the Kubernetes platform strategy, including the management of vanilla clusters across data centers.
• Establish and uphold standards for multi-tenancy, security, and isolation, including namespace design and network policies.
• Oversee cluster lifecycle management and multi-cluster operations using tools like Cluster API and Rancher.
• Create and maintain Helm charts and self-service interfaces for internal users.
• Ensure deep integration between Kubernetes and underlying infrastructure components.
• Build observability tools for debugging across control and data planes.
• Collaborate with various teams to ensure platform reliability and performance.

Skills

• Extensive knowledge of Kubernetes networking and multi-tenancy practices.
• Experience with storage solutions like Rook/Ceph and cloud-native patterns.
• Understanding of virtualization and service mesh technologies.
• Commitment to open-source and vendor-neutral solutions.

Education

• Relevant technical degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
