Weekend Backend Engineer (Remote)

Job summary

This role involves developing microservices in a distributed deployment environment, focusing on containerization with Docker and Kubernetes. The position emphasizes stability and robustness for a platform accessed by millions daily.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3+ years in a relevant backend engineering role
• Based in Europe or Latin America
• Preferred experience with Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Data, and iBATIS
• Strong background in designing highly transactional systems
• Advanced proficiency in Object Oriented Design (OOD) and application analysis
• Deep understanding of Microservices and proficient in SQL

Responsibilities

• Work on a Friday-Tuesday shift pattern, including weekends
• Develop scalable backends for mobile internet applications
• Collaborate with Project Managers and development teams on new features
• Participate in code reviews to ensure adherence to standards
• Respond to production support calls for quick issue resolution
• Engage in team ceremonies such as planning and retrospectives
• Mentor less experienced team members

Skills

• Strong experience with highly-scalable web backends
• Advanced proficiency in non-functional software qualities like resiliency
• Expertise in application development with technologies such as RabbitMQ, MySQL, and Redis
• Experience with container and cloud solutions like Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS Cloud
• Excellent communication skills in English

Education

• Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred.
