Technical Lead Data & Platform Engineer

Job summary

The role involves leading the design and development of data pipelines and products for a life science investment firm. The position requires collaboration with the Head of Data & Analytics to drive development priorities and maintain a high-performance data platform.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Data and Platform Engineering
• MSc or PhD in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field
• Experience in international environments is a plus

Responsibilities

• Design and develop data pipelines and products using Azure, Databricks, and dbt
• Manage infrastructure provisioning and deployments with Terraform and Azure DevOps
• Implement CI/CD workflows and automation practices using Git and Azure DevOps
• Develop and maintain data transformations, models, and orchestration logic in Databricks
• Build and deploy Python applications and PySpark data processing solutions
• Ensure system integrations and enable near real-time data processing
• Contribute to the development of the semantic layer connecting data products to business logic
• Oversee production stability and operational excellence of data solutions

Skills

• Proficient in Azure cloud ecosystem, Databricks, Terraform, dbt, Python, and SQL
• Familiar with CI/CD practices and version control using Azure DevOps and Git
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to translate business needs into technical requirements
• Understanding of semantic layers in data use cases

Education

• MSc or PhD in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or similar
