Tech Lead, Android Engineer

Job summary

This role focuses on leading the development of a highly utilized Android text-to-speech application, ensuring high-quality feature delivery and enhancing user experience.

Qualifications

• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering.
• Familiarity with Android components and experience with at least one Android app.
• Strong product design intuition and user empathy.
• Excellent communication skills and a user-oriented problem-solving approach.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of major features and collaborate closely with the design team.
• Shape the future direction of the Android team.
• Maintain and improve reliability metrics for key features.
• Engage in cross-team discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering.
• Review pull requests and support team members.
• Address critical issues and unexpected challenges.
• Manage feature releases and provide nightly builds for QA.

Skills

• Proficient in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, and Android UI/UX principles.
• Understanding of testing importance and experience writing tests.
• Self-motivated to enhance the app and codebase beyond specifications.

Education

• Relevant degree or equivalent experience in software engineering is preferred.

Tools

• Technologies include Kotlin, Jetpack Navigation, Room, Custom Views, Jetpack Compose, and JUnit.
