Job summary

This position offers an opportunity to engage in advanced research focused on laser-based additive manufacturing, specifically in the area of thermo-mechanical modeling and numerical simulations of copper alloys. The role is part of a project aimed at understanding and optimizing the printing processes through high-fidelity simulations and reduced-order modeling.

Qualifications

  • Strong interest in numerical modeling and simulation of manufacturing processes.
  • Background in thermo-mechanics, finite element modeling, or related fields.
  • Experience with programming languages such as MATLAB or Python.
  • Familiarity with additive manufacturing or laser-based processes is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and run thermo-mechanical simulations to predict temperature fields and residual stresses during laser-based additive manufacturing.
  • Develop reduced-order models to enhance simulation efficiency while maintaining accuracy.
  • Assist in supervising and training M.Sc. students and contribute to academic dissemination activities, including preparing conference papers and journal publications.

  • Ability to translate complex physical models into efficient simulation frameworks.

Education

  • Enrollment in a relevant academic program, preferably at the graduate level.
