About the role

Job summary

This position involves two distinct roles: Control Engineer and Protection Engineer, focusing on the development and implementation of control and protection systems for substations and HV/MV networks. The role contributes to significant infrastructure projects aimed at supporting the green transition.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong experience in plant control systems with an emphasis on closed-loop control applications.
  • Hands-on experience with STATCOM and HVDC systems, including control philosophy development and performance verification.
  • Relevant experience across design, testing, and commissioning phases.
  • Familiarity with modeling and simulation tools for control design and validation.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in additional European languages is a plus.

Responsibilities

Control Engineer

Protection Engineer

  • Develop engineering specifications for control systems in substations (30–400 kV).
  • Design and maintain control architectures, ensuring integration with primary equipment and SCADA systems.
  • Implement control strategies for AC and DC systems, focusing on dynamic performance and stability.
  • Conduct testing and validation of control systems using OMICRON equipment.
  • Collaborate in multidisciplinary teams throughout all project phases.
  • Create specifications and settings for AC protection systems in substations (30–400 kV).
  • Develop protection philosophies and conduct coordination studies for AC and DC systems.
  • Perform testing and commissioning activities, including relay configuration and acceptance testing.
  • Collaborate with engineers across various disciplines to ensure reliable protection solutions.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficiency in PSCAD and MATLAB/Simulink for modeling and simulations.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

Tools

  • Experience with OMICRON test equipment, PSCAD, MATLAB/Simulink, and protection relays from ABB, Siemens, and Sprecher.
