Station Control / Protection Engineer (Power Systems, Remote)

Job summary

This role encompasses two key positions within the Power Systems Department, focusing on the development and implementation of control and protection systems for substations and HV/MV networks, contributing to major infrastructure projects aimed at sustainability.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong experience in plant control systems, particularly with closed-loop control applications.
• Hands-on experience with STATCOM and HVDC systems, including control philosophy development and performance verification.
• Relevant experience in design, testing, and commissioning phases.
• Familiarity with modeling and simulation tools for control design and validation.
• Fluent in English; proficiency in additional European languages is a plus.

Responsibilities

Control Engineer

Protection Engineer

• Develop engineering specifications for control systems in substations (30–400 kV).
• Design and maintain control architectures, integrating RTUs, PLCs, and protection relays.
• Implement control strategies for AC and DC systems, ensuring dynamic performance and stability.
• Conduct testing and validation of control systems using OMICRON test equipment.
• Perform modeling and simulation using PSCAD and MATLAB/Simulink.
• Create specifications and settings for AC protection systems in substations (30–400 kV).
• Develop protection philosophies and conduct coordination studies for AC and DC systems.
• Perform testing and commissioning of protection systems, including relay configuration and acceptance testing.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams throughout all project phases.
