Staff People Systems Engineer (Remote, Technology)

Job summary

This role focuses on enhancing the People Technology landscape by designing and implementing integrations, automations, and services that align with business needs and improve operational efficiency. The position requires a hands-on approach to building technical solutions while collaborating with various stakeholders across the organization.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in People Tech, HRIS engineering, or related technical roles within a People/HR context.
• Proven ability to create reliable integrations and automations using APIs, webhooks, and scripting.
• Familiarity with HRIS platforms, preferably HiBob, and experience with cloud-based ecosystems.
• Knowledge of identity/access management tools, such as Okta.
• Strong problem-solving skills, capable of translating ambiguous requirements into actionable solutions.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Responsibilities

• Design and build integrations and automations within the People Tech stack, utilizing APIs and event-driven architecture.
• Collaborate with People Operations, Talent Acquisition, Payroll, and other departments to gather requirements and prioritize technical work.
• Automate core employee lifecycle processes, including onboarding and offboarding.
• Ensure data quality and integrity across People systems, maintaining standards for reporting and schema.
• Manage incident response and troubleshooting for People systems and integrations.
• Establish engineering standards for documentation, integration patterns, and change management processes.
• Promote security-first practices and ensure compliance with data protection regulations.

Skills

• Strong technical skills in integration and automation development.
• System thinking and the ability to analyze processes at both high and detailed levels.
• Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement and requirement gathering.

Education

• Relevant degree or equivalent experience in a technical field is preferred.

Tools

• Experience with tools such as HiBob, Ashby, and cloud platforms like GCP. Familiarity with AI tooling and GitHub is a plus.
