Software Engineer, Backend (Remote)

Job summary

This role involves designing and enhancing core backend systems for business process automation, focusing on distributed workflow technologies that support enterprise operations at scale.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of professional backend engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of backend development principles and software engineering best practices.
• Interest in event-driven systems and distributed architectures.
• Good API design skills, including creating clean REST interfaces.
• Strong written communication skills for asynchronous collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve backend features within event-sourced workflow engines and APIs.
• Design and maintain reliable APIs with a focus on scalability and backward compatibility.
• Address distributed systems challenges involving event sourcing and system reliability.
• Enhance application performance by optimizing data access patterns.
• Build observability capabilities through logging, metrics, and monitoring.
• Participate in production support and on-call responsibilities as needed.

Skills

• Familiarity with Elasticsearch/OpenSearch and relational databases like PostgreSQL.
• Knowledge of observability practices, including logging and tracing.
• Experience with workflow automation and process orchestration is a plus.

Education

• Relevant degree or equivalent experience in software engineering or a related field.

Tools

• Experience with JVM technologies is advantageous.
