Senior Sustainability Lead

Job summary

The Senior Sustainability Lead will be responsible for developing and leading a comprehensive sustainability program across global commodity supply chains. This role is based at the headquarters in Aarhus and involves direct reporting to the CEO, focusing on aligning sustainability initiatives with commercial priorities to achieve tangible outcomes.

Qualifications

• At least five years of relevant experience in sustainability, ESG, responsible sourcing, procurement, operations, or agricultural commodity supply chains.
• Strong understanding of physical commodity supply chain operations, from sourcing to logistics.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing sustainability initiatives with measurable impact.
• Familiarity with sustainability regulations, including CSRD, and certification schemes like Rainforest Alliance, RSPO, or Fairtrade.
• Experience in supplier engagement, traceability, certification processes, and sustainability reporting.
• Strong analytical skills to translate complex data into actionable business insights.
• Proficient in English communication, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Define and develop the strategic framework for sustainability priorities, including governance and implementation roadmap.
• Establish sustainability standards and coordinate certification schemes, audits, and traceability initiatives.
• Serve as the global subject matter expert on sustainability and ESG, translating regulatory requirements into business solutions.
• Build relationships with producers and logistics partners to integrate sustainability standards into operations.
• Define KPIs and establish data reporting processes to support decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with sustainability reporting requirements as a natural outcome of operational practices.
