Senior Software Engineer (Payments, Remote)

Job summary

The role involves developing and enhancing payment systems that are crucial for online ordering and in-store platforms. The engineer will be responsible for creating a resilient and compliant payments operating model, focusing on various aspects of payment processing.

Qualifications

• Strong backend engineering experience in distributed systems, including microservices and resilient APIs.
• Proven production experience with payment flows such as authorization, capture, and refunds.
• Solid understanding of security practices, including PCI compliance and secure coding.
• Experience working in an Azure environment with CI/CD and automated testing.
• Effective communication skills with non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design and operate payment-domain services, including gateway integrations and reconciliation processes.
• Implement marketplace capabilities related to onboarding, merchant configuration, and invoicing.
• Build robust financial primitives to support compliance and auditing.
• Collaborate with various departments to ensure safe and testable production behavior.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering standards and documentation.

Skills

• Familiarity with sub-merchant and marketplace operating models is a plus.
• Knowledge of dispute tooling and fraud prevention platforms is advantageous.

Education

• Relevant technical degree or equivalent experience in software engineering.

Tools

• Experience with Azure services, APIs, and automated testing tools.
