Job summary

This role involves contributing to the modernization and operational excellence of core transaction processing systems within a mainframe services team. The position is critical for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of transaction services that support billions of transactions.

Qualifications

  • Over 5 years of experience in mainframe development, specifically with COBOL, JCL, and DB2.
  • Strong understanding of z/OS architecture and batch processing.
  • Experience with file transfer gateways, SFTP protocols, and integration layers.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
  • Ability to work effectively in a global team and communicate across different time zones.
  • A passion for modernization and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain COBOL, JCL, and DB2-based applications on z/OS.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mainframe services with distributed systems.
  • Lead modernization efforts, including migration to event-driven architectures and API enablement.
  • Ensure compliance with mainframe security standards.
  • Participate in daily change request syncs and operational reviews.
  • Contribute to performance standards and leveling within the software engineering guild.
  • Participate in on-call duties outside of regular working hours.

Skills

  • Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, DB2, and z/OS.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration in a global environment.

Education

  • Relevant degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.

Tools

  • Familiarity with mainframe development tools and environments.
