Job summary

This role involves the development of custom mechanical and electromechanical systems for advanced fabrication and experimental environments, focusing on the entire lifecycle from concept to deployment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong background in industrial mechanical design and custom equipment build.
  • Proven hands-on experience in assembly, integration, and debugging of physical systems.
  • Proficient in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of mechanical and electromechanical systems from concept through deployment.
  • Define system requirements and design approaches based on operational needs.
  • Design precision mechanisms and motion systems using CAD tools.
  • Conduct structural and thermal assessments to inform design decisions.
  • Assemble, integrate, test, and debug mechanical systems to ensure reliable operation.
  • Iterate designs based on testing and feedback to enhance performance and usability.
  • Collaborate with suppliers for sourcing components and subsystems.
  • Create documentation including drawings and test plans to support development.

Skills

  • Experience with precision machinery and automation systems.
  • Ability to work across the full development lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with vacuum or UHV systems is a plus.

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a relevant engineering field.

Tools

  • CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks).
  • Familiarity with AI tools for innovation and efficiency in hardware development.
