About the role

Job summary

A Senior Game Programmer is needed to design and implement multiplayer technology for an unannounced project. The role focuses on ensuring smooth, low-latency online play and involves collaboration with various team members.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience working on at least one online multiplayer game (preferably shipped).
  • Strong understanding of multiplayer networking concepts, including peer-to-peer and client/host models.
  • Ability to explain complex networking concepts to non-experts.
  • Comfortable with long-term multiplayer architecture responsibilities.
  • Willingness to mentor and share knowledge with team members.
  • Familiarity with the Apple ecosystem and macOS.

Responsibilities

  • Build and iterate on multiplayer technology using existing game infrastructure.
  • Make key architectural decisions and set standards for multiplayer/networking.
  • Collaborate closely with designers, artists, and other programmers.
  • Share knowledge and improve multiplayer capabilities across the studio.

Skills

  • Expertise in multiplayer networking concepts and tradeoffs.
  • Experience in architecting and deploying server infrastructure is a plus.
  • Knowledge of relay server setups and server health monitoring is advantageous.

Education

  • Relevant experience in game programming or a related field.

Tools

  • Proficiency in Unity and multiplayer frameworks (e.g., Coherence).
