Job summary

This role focuses on leading and managing a team of engineers responsible for a data platform that supports various business functions across a global enterprise. The position emphasizes people leadership, engineering delivery, and collaboration with product and technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in people leadership, including hiring, coaching, and performance management for engineers at various levels.
  • Demonstrated success in leading engineering delivery for data platforms or similar infrastructure at an enterprise scale.
  • Familiarity with Databricks and the Microsoft data ecosystem, including Azure services.
  • Ability to effectively partner with product management to translate roadmaps into actionable delivery plans.
  • Strong technical skills to engage with senior engineers and defend platform investments.
  • Experience in driving FinOps best practices related to cost management in cloud environments.
  • Excellent communication skills for both technical and executive audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of 8–10 engineers, ensuring a healthy team environment with clear expectations and career development opportunities.
  • Oversee the engineering delivery of the data platform, focusing on architecture, reliability, security, and governance.
  • Collaborate with product management to align on priorities and translate them into execution plans.
  • Work with technical leads to ensure teams are addressing the right challenges effectively.
  • Implement FinOps practices for cost modeling and forecasting to ensure scalable platform operations.
  • Advocate for governance and data privacy as core platform features.
  • Represent the engineering team in architecture and governance discussions across the organization.
  • Establish operational standards, including service level objectives and incident management practices.

Education

  • Relevant degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
