Senior Embedded Software Developer

Job summary

This role involves developing and maintaining OS-agnostic C APIs for physical network interfaces, particularly in the automotive and safety-critical sectors. The position is based on-site and requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance the performance and reliability of Ethernet interfaces.

Qualifications

• Proficient in C with experience in embedded software development.
• Strong interest or experience in physical Ethernet layers and interface standards.
• Comfortable working in a regulated environment adhering to safety and quality standards.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Good English communication skills, both written and oral.
• Relevant education and a minimum of 5 years of applicable experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain OS-agnostic C APIs for physical network interfaces.
• Bring up and tune various interfaces, from 10 Mbit MII to high-speed Ethernet SerDes (1G–25G).
• Implement PCS and MAC layer functionality from a software driver perspective.
• Develop PHY drivers for Ethernet standards including 1000BASE-T, 1000BASE-T1, and 10BASE-T1S.
• Contribute to the associated switch driver.
• Write MISRA-compliant C code in line with ASPICE and automotive safety standards.
• Assist in the development of automated testing infrastructure and maintain test platforms.

Skills

• Experience with Ethernet switch SoCs and PHYs.
• Knowledge of the IEEE 802.1Q standard and basic L2 forwarding.
• Familiarity with GIT, MISRA, ASPICE, ISO 26262, and IEC 62443.
• Experience with standardization bodies or industry consortia.
• Some experience with Linux user-space, Linux kernel-space, Ruby, and/or CMake.

Education

• Relevant degree in a related field.

Tools

• C programming language, GIT, and tools related to embedded software development.
