About the role

Job summary

The Senior Data Scientist will be responsible for developing models, analyses, and machine learning components that enhance business decisions and client outcomes. This role requires independent ownership of deliverables, from understanding requirements to data preparation, modeling, validation, and delivery.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in applying statistical analysis and machine learning to business challenges.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, with knowledge of libraries such as pandas, scikit-learn, XGBoost, LightGBM, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
  • Solid SQL skills and experience with large datasets.
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms like Snowflake, Databricks, or BigQuery.
  • Experience in developing various machine learning solutions including classification, regression, and anomaly detection.

Responsibilities

  • Independently deliver reliable models and analyses for defined business problems.
  • Translate business questions into analytical approaches and recommend suitable methodologies.
  • Quickly build and test models using statistical methods and machine learning techniques.
  • Prepare and validate data, ensuring its quality and reliability.
  • Create reusable scoring workflows and integrate model outputs into applications.
  • Establish baselines and perform statistical checks to evaluate results.
  • Collaborate with application and data teams to support intelligence products.
  • Maintain operational discipline in model delivery, including validation and documentation.
  • Utilize AI tools to enhance productivity in coding and testing.
  • Communicate project progress and risks effectively.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with orchestration tools like Airflow or AWS Glue.
  • Experience with version control and reproducible development practices.

Education

  • Relevant degree in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Statistics, or Computer Science is preferred.

Tools

  • Python, SQL, cloud data platforms, machine learning libraries, orchestration tools.
