Senior Backend Engineer (Remote, Global)

Job summary

The role involves joining a team of engineers to develop tools, APIs, and integrations for various products, utilizing Elixir and Phoenix for backend development. The position is fully remote and offers the opportunity to work on significant challenges that impact global employment.

Qualifications

• Strong engineering fundamentals with experience in shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
• Practical experience in designing or adopting automation workflows and iterating on them.
• Proficient in Postgres or similar database technologies.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitLab, GitHub, or Jenkins.

Responsibilities

• Lead major projects and participate in cross-team initiatives for HR and Payroll products.
• Engage in product discussions, providing feedback and suggesting improvements based on technical insights.
• Maintain a solid understanding of the team’s domain from both product and engineering perspectives.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to the shared codebase.
• Debug and resolve technical and business issues.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in hiring processes.
• Propose and implement improvements to the platform and workflows.

Skills

• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Next.js, and React/Vue/Angular is a plus.

Education

• Relevant experience in software engineering or a related field is required.

Tools

• Elixir, Phoenix, Postgres, GitLab, AWS, CI/CD tools.
