Senior Backend Engineer (Remote)

Job summary

The role involves joining a team of engineers to develop tools, APIs, and integrations for HR and Payroll products using Elixir and Phoenix, with a Postgres database. The position is fully remote and offers the opportunity to work on complex challenges that impact global employment.

Qualifications

• Strong engineering fundamentals with experience in shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
• Practical experience in designing automation workflows and improving them iteratively.
• Proficiency in Postgres or similar databases.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools like GitLab or GitHub.
• Demonstrated capabilities in automation and AI fluency.

Responsibilities

• Lead development on major projects and participate in cross-team initiatives.
• Engage in product work, providing feedback and suggesting improvements.
• Maintain a strong understanding of the team’s domain from both product and engineering perspectives.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to the shared codebase.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in hiring processes.
• Investigate and implement improvements to the platform.

Skills

• Nice to have: Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Nextjs, React/Vue/Angular.

Education

• Relevant experience in software engineering or a related field is required.
