Senior Backend Engineer

Job summary

This role involves joining a team of engineers focused on building tools, APIs, and integrations for various products. The backend is developed using Elixir and Phoenix, with a Postgres database, and applications are hosted on AWS. The position is fully remote, allowing for flexible work arrangements.

Qualifications

• Strong engineering fundamentals with experience in shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
• Practical experience in designing or adopting automation workflows and improving them iteratively.
• Proficiency in Postgres or similar databases.
• Familiarity with CI/CD processes using tools like GitLab or GitHub.
• Demonstrated capabilities in automation and AI fluency.

Responsibilities

• Lead development on major projects and participate in cross-team initiatives for HR and Payroll products.
• Provide technical insights and feedback during product work and code reviews.
• Maintain a strong understanding of the team’s domain from both product and engineering perspectives.
• Mentor other engineers and contribute to the shared codebase.
• Investigate and implement improvements to the platform, focusing on performance and API design.

Skills

• Nice to have: Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Next.js, and frontend frameworks like React, Vue, or Angular.
